Accessibility

Grades

We've built the Lewisham Southwark College website using Web Standards to give you a fast and modern web experience. We've also closely followed the W3C's WAI accessibility guidelines to the AA standard, to ensure that our website is available to as many users as possible.

Browser Accessibility Tools

Most browsers allow you to change the appearance of web pages.

Page colour

We've designed this site to provide a good level of contrast between text and background.

Browsers also allow users to adjust colour preferences. In Internet Explorer or Firefox this can be done under 'Tools' – 'Options'. More information can be found on the W3C's web page on how to change text size or colours.

Links

We try to ensure that link text makes sense out of context and that it accurately describes the pages it points to. You can use the tab key on your keyboard (as well as your mouse) to move consecutively from link to link.

Page Structure

We've given each page a logical and meaningful structure through the correct use of headings and other elements such as lists.

Images

Where relevant, images will have alternative text descriptions.

PDF Files

Some of the information on our website is in Portable Document Format (PDF). You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to read PDF files. Adobe Acrobat Reader can be downloaded free from the Adobe website.
