This course is ideal if you want to work as a supervisor or manager in the beauty industry, would like to run your own beauty therapy business, or are interested in working in spas, health farms/clubs or on cruise ship spas.
The course covers advanced aspects of beauty treatments including a variety of massage techniques (Swedish, stone therapy, pre-blended aromatherapy and Indian head massage), and also includes facial electrotherapy. We offer additional units to learners who require training in specific skills such as electrical epilation and body electrotherapy (these units may incur costs).
This advanced course covers the theoretical aspects of beauty therapy, including anatomy and physiology, enabling students to explore the structures and functions of all of the systems of the human body and learn how these relate to the practical aspects of beauty therapy. You will also cover units such as managing health & safety in the salon and how to plan, implement and evaluate promotional events.
You will achieve a qualification accredited by the awarding body VTCT. You will also attain certificates to add to your CV from enrichment workshops delivered by external companies well-known in the beauty and spa industry such as Eve Taylor advanced product knowledge, Eve Taylor body wrapping treatments, Mesotherapy/Laser treatments, Caflon ear piercing, Forever products for business opportunities, Steiner the on-board spa for career progression, and FX lash effects.
English and maths qualifications are a requirement for most jobs and it is important that you are able to demonstrate your ability in these areas. If you do not already have a grade C or above in GCSE English and maths you will automatically undertake further study in these subjects as part of your study programme.
Aims of the course
To give you the training you need to become a senior beauty therapist specialising in spa treatments, or to take on a managerial role.

A weekly tutorial allows you and your tutor to develop individual learning plans that will assist in learning and in developing responsibility for your own learning
You will be assessed through practical assessments and by building a portfolio of work throughout the year. You will use e-portfolios and learn how to use the latest technology to manage your portfolio. Regular progress reports are provided to parents/guardians of students aged under 19.
The programme is unit based, with units delivered individually at different stages throughout the course. You will be assessed when you feel you are competent. There are three areas of assessment:

Oral: you will answer questions on your underpinning knowledge of the skill.
