This short course is ideal both for beginners and for those already practising who want to brush up their skills and achieve an accredited qualification, enabling them to deliver a professional service to clients. The course enables you to gain the skills needed to carry out client consultations, apply and remove single eyelash extensions and provide homecare advice. You will achieve a qualification accredited by the awarding body VTCT.
Aims of the course
To enable you to carry out professional self-tanning techniques.
This unit is about the application of a variety of self-tanning products and methods of application including spray tanning and manual application. To carry out this unit you will need to maintain effective health, safety and hygiene throughout your work. You will also need to maintain your personal appearance and good communication with the client.
There are three methods of assessment: Practical observation: you will carry out the skill on clients Oral: you will answer questions on your underpinning knowledge of the skill Written: you will complete an assignment and online exams
This short course may enhance your current skills and qualifications or may introduce you to the world of beauty therapy leading to progression on to a level 1 introduction to beauty therapy course or a level 2 pathway to commercial salons course.

As a qualified beauty therapist you'll be starting on a career path with the opportunity to progress and earn a good salary ? whether you work for a salon or spa, or decide to set up on your own. For example: Beauty therapists start on around £14,000 a year and can earn £16,000 with a few years' experience Beauty salon managers earn an average of £27,000
You will meet with staff to discuss whether this course is suitable for you, and complete a free writing task to ensure you have an appropriate level of English ability.
Our Department of Beauty Therapy includes three practice salons, a make up studio and theory classrooms.
Practical skills are delivered by highly trained and experienced industry experts using tools and products recognised in the industry in our fully equipped salons. Our skilled teaching staff will utilise technology such as iPads and television viewing screens to support practical learning ensuring that you can view demonstrations and close up shots as many times as you need to during your practice. You will be able to gain real-life experience working on clients at the T'ien salon.
