This is the ideal course for you if you want to gain the necessary skills and knowledge to work as a legal secretary within the legal profession. As a student on the programme you will learn how to work effectively in a legal environment, and how to cope with the administrative requirements of the role. You will also develop key text production and audio skills which will enable you to produce accurate legal documents at a good typing speed. In addition, you will learn English proofreading skills in the legal environment, which will develop your core English skills including punctuation and grammar.
A work experience unit is built into the course whereby students can use the skills they have developed in a real-world legal environment.
The course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, a respected training provider within the legal secretary field. Chartered Institute of Legal Executive courses are valued by prospective employers in the industry.

Assessment is via a combination of two in-house examinations and one externally marked exam. You will also complete a wide range of internally marked assignments.
On completion of this course you will be able to gain employment as a legal secretary or within a legal administrative section within a business, law firm or the court system. You will also be able to progress to the Cilex Level 3 Legal Secretary Diploma Course.
As a fully qualified legal secretary and will be able to work within a law firm, legal chambers and court administration environment. You will also be able to study further legal qualifications including the Level 3 Legal Secretary Diploma or the Legal Studies Diploma.

Relevant Level 1 qualification with Merit or above
Relevant industry experience to Level 1 or above
The course is delivered through a combination of lessons, workshops and external visits to UK legal courts and legal exhibitions.
