This course suits those that have completed Edexcel BTEC Higher Nationals L4 and is designed to provide a specialist vocational programme, linked to professional body and National Occupational Standards where appropriate. It offers a strong, sector-related emphasis on practical skills development alongside the development of requisite knowledge and understanding. The qualifications provide a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required in the sector and the national recognition by employers allows direct progression to employment.

As stated above you will be able to access a full range of academic and non-academic support to ensure you enjoy the course and achieve on it. You will be advised (step by step) on how to apply for university places on commencement of the course. There is no accommodation with this course but students can access advice at the College on accommodation options. This course is self-financed or you can apply for Student Finance.

Aims of the course

The aims of the qualification are to provide education and training for a range of careers in business such as management, administration, personnel, marketing, accounting, and law Providing a general qualification which allows flexibility of study to meet local or specialist needs Providing specialist options which meet the needs of the major functions in business and allow specialisation with career progression and professional recognition in mind.

Unit Breakdown

BTEC Level 5 HND (Year 1) in Business (Marketing Pathway) is a qualification Qualification credit value: A minimum of 240 credits which includes credits from Year 1(HNC). Example of Units as below: 11 Research Project (Pearson-set) 12 Organisational Behaviour 23 Integrated Marketing Communications 22 Product and Service Development 24 Digital Marketing 40 International Marketing 41 Brand Management

Assessment Method

The assessment of Edexcel BTEC Higher National qualifications is criterion-referenced and the learners will be assessed with evidence against published learning outcomes and assessment criteria through portfolios, exams and practical work. All units will be individually graded as 'Pass', 'Merit' or 'Distinction'.

Progression Opportunities

A key progression path for Edexcel HND learners is to the second or third year of a degree or honours degree programme, depending on the match of the Edexcel BTEC Higher National units to the degree programme in question. The Edexcel BTEC HND in Business offer a progression route to the professional qualifications offered by various professional bodies in the business sector.

Entry Requirements

GCSE English and GCSE Mathematics at grades A*-C, plus a substantial Level 4 qualification in a related subject. Applicants should have completedL4 HNC with a total of 120 Credits.
