This innovative programme will enable you to explore the functions of business (finance, human resources, leadership, marketing and management) and gain a broader understanding of how key institutions and national and world markets operate. As part of the course you'll get the opportunity to work on live briefs set by industry and may act as a business consultant recommending solutions to local businesses. *Subject to validation.

Aims of the course
To enable students to develop a sound knowledge and understanding of organisations and the business environment, while developing the skills and techniques which will enable them to succeed in business.
Year One Academic Study Skills, Business Environment, Management and Globalisation, Marketing Principles, Personal Development or Recognition of Prior Learning, Principles of Finance, Principles of Leadership, Principles of Human Resources, Work Related Learning.
Year Two Contemporary Issues in Business, Management Information Systems, Professional Development or Recognition of Prior Learning, Work Based Learning.
Optional modules (choose from): Accounting Systems and Auditing, E-Marketing, Employment Law, Human Resource Development, Leadership Styles, Management Accounting, Marketing Planning, Quality and Operations Management.
Professional placements You may want to enhance your career prospects by securing a voluntary work placement. This is not a mandatory requirement of the course but is recommended.
You will learn through a dynamic mix of lectures, tutorials, seminars, group work, reflective accounts and research, alongside approximately 12 hours per week of independent study. You will be assessed through research projects, presentations and assignments that focus on all the key areas of business.
You may choose to progress on to our BA (Hons) Business Management (top-up) degree, or go directly into employment.
Having successfully graduated you will be ready to begin a career in management in almost any business or industry, or to pursue your own enterprise.
To apply for this course you must be aged 18 or over on or before the 31st August 2018
70-80 UCAS points. Students are normally expected to have GCSE at grade A*-C (9-4) in English language and maths, or the Level 2 equivalents. For mature students (aged 21 or over) without these qualifications, relevant industry experience may also be considered. Applicants for whom English is not their first language need a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or a nationally recognised equivalent.
