Students complete the AAT Level 4 Accounting qualification are awarded a Diploma by the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT)

Aims of the course

The course aims to develop skills in: Drafting and interpreting limited company accounts Preparing budgets Measuring and performance Analysing the finance functions and making recommendation

Unit Breakdown

The units you will study are: Financial Statements of Limited Companies (Core Unit) Management Accounting: Budgeting (Core Unit) Management Accounting: Decision and Control (Core Unit) Accounting Systems and Controls (Core Unit) Personal Tax (option unit) Cash and Treasury Management (Optional Unit)

Assessment Method

All AAT Assessments are practical computer based assessments. The assessments may be fully computer marked, fully human marked or a mixture of computer and human marked.

Progression Opportunities

Having successfully completed this course, there are three possible options opened to you. Employment ? students could find themselves working in Forensic Accounting, Corporate Finance, Taxation or Insolvency industries. Higher Education - students can continue their studies into 2nd Year Accounting Degree programmes. Professional Accountancy - Students can opt for professional Accountancy qualifications like the ACCA or CIMA. They may receive relevant exemptions.

On completion students can find various job roles such as: Accounts Payable and Expenses Supervisor Assistant Financial Accountant Commercial Analyst Senior Finance Officer Tax Supervisor VAT Accountant

Entry Requirements

  • Five GCSEs at grades A* - C; including GCSE English and GCSE Mathematics;
  • Successful completion of AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting or a Level 3 qualification in a related subject;
  • An initial assessment that indicates an appropriate level of English and mathematical ability, and
  • A satisfactory reference


The course is classroom based.
