NCFE CACHE Level 3 Award in Preparing to Work in Home Based Childcare.

This qualification prepares learners to set up a home based childcare setting as a registered childminder. It is also suitable for learners who wish to be employed in home based childcare settings as childminding assistants or other home childcares (e.g. nannies, au pairs)

Aims of the course

NCFE CACHE Level 3 Award in Preparing to Work in Home Based Childcare qualification prepares learners to set up a home based childcare setting as a registered childminder. It is also suitable for learners who wish to be employed in home based childcare settings as childminding assistants or other home childcares (e.g. nannies, au pairs.

Unit Breakdown

It covers: legislation and regulation relating to home based childcare; safeguarding and child protection; health and safety in a home based childcare environment; promoting equality, diversity and inclusion; day to day care routines for children; working in partnership; children's learning and development; play; and the role of observation. Unit 2 prepares learners to set up a home based childcare business. It covers: leading and managing a home based childcare setting; financial and taxation requirements when setting up a home based childcare setting; creating a business plan; and registration requirements for home based childcares.

Assessment Method

Project work, independent research activities, completion of a portfolio of evidence that will be externally assessed.

Progression Opportunities

Level 3 diploma for children's and young people's work force.(Early years educator).

Registered childminders, childminding assistants, nannies, au pairs, other child carers in home based settings and Early Years Educator qualification

Entry Requirements

16 and over and have three GCSE A ?C including English. This is a knowledge-only qualification; therefore, no placement in a real work environment in required.

Students with non-standard qualification will be directed to see the childcare team.

Students will be expected to carry out preparatory reading before each lesson and also complete home work.
