Overview

This course is suitable for adults who are looking for work in business, accounting or finance but still need to develop their English language, mathematics and information technology skills to a more advanced level. As a student on the programme you will study listening, pronunciation, reading, speaking, spelling and writing skills and learn to use your English in a range of contexts, including accountancy, mathematics and information technology. You will join the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), and towards the Foundation certificate in Accounting L2 qualification.

Aims of the course

To study Level 2 English language and gain qualifications in Maths as well as the Foundation certificate in Accounting L2 which can enhance employment opportunities.

Assessment Method

Initial and diagnostic assessment on paper as well as paper and online course assessments.

Progression Opportunities

Successful students can progress to the workplace or to higher level courses such as AAT L3 or other business qualifications.

Career Options

Successful students may progress into the business or finance sectors or to further study in the college.

Entry Requirements

Successful completion of Level 1 bookkeeping and accounts or previous relevant experience, successful completion of Level 1 Maths and English qualifications, plus successful completion of an initial/progression assessment.

An ability and commitment to attend all the parts of the course. 100% attendance is expected

An ability and commitment to complete at least 4 hours per week of private study and to attend work experience where this is available.

Facilities

Students will be based in the college and have access to all the college facilities including ICT facilities. Students will be given opportunities to go on relevant trips and have 1-2-1 meetings with tutors to discuss academic progress.
