Cambridge Advanced is a high-quality English language test for people who want to show they have an advanced level of English for study, work and life in an English-speaking environment. This course will prepare you to sit the test in the summer. Term 1 enables you to begin your preparation process and focuses on language development, whilst Term 2 continues language development alongside more specific test practice. The course fee above does not include the exam fee.

Aims of the course

You will work on the practical skills to:

  • follow an academic course at university level
  • communicate effectively at managerial and professional level
  • participate with confidence in workplace meetings or academic tutorials and seminars
  • carry out complex and challenging research
  • express yourself with a high level of fluency
  • react appropriately in different cultural and social situations.

Unit Breakdown

You will prepare or the Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking and Use of English Tests.

Assessment Method

Throughout the course, the teacher will provide detailed feedback on the work you produce in class and for homework, and you will do some practice tests.

Entry Requirements

An assessment of your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills and an interview with an English Language specialist. You need to demonstrate English language skills at B2 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

A commitment to work hard and to attend 100% of lessons and to do homework outside the class.


This is a classroom-based course. There is a Learning Centre with materials you can use for independent study and homework.
