Aims of the course

To give an introduction to diverse floristry skills for funeral work.

Unit Breakdown

Biodegradable tributes, contemporary tributes and sprays, finally a design using home-grown British flowers to celebrate the annual nationwide celebration of British Flower Week

Tutor feedback, peer and self-evaluation.

Progression Opportunities

This course provides an opportunity to learn new or update your skills by exploring a range of techniques to create diverse funeral designs. Throughout the course, you will identify and create a diverse Biodegradable tribute, construct a range of contemporary funeral tribute to incorporate contemporary sprays, use up to date techniques suitable for funeral and sympathy work. The final week will include a design using home-grown British flowers to celebrate the annual nationwide celebration of British Flower Week

Career Options

Develop your Floristry portfolio and practical skills to a more advanced level on the following courses: Classic Floral Designs for Weddings, Diverse Floral Funeral & Sympathy Course, European styles, Vintage inspired wedding designs. More advanced florists may prefer one of our accredited courses at level 1, 2 or 3

What can I earn as a florist?

As a qualified florist you'll be starting on a career path with lots of opportunity for progression, and a good salary in your sights ? whether you decide to work for a company or set up your own business. For example:

Florists start on around £11,000 a year and can earn £15,000 with 3 years' experience

Horticulturalists start on around £14,000 a year and can earn £18,000 with 3 years' experience
