IT and Computing (Digital Skills)

Overview

This course is designed for those who have little or no knowledge of ICT seeking a route into jobs which require some knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing packages in Microsoft Office.

There are 3 units. Namely:

IT User Fundamentals

Word processing

Spreadsheets

Qualification

City & Guilds Entry 3 Level Award for IT Users (ITQ).

Aims of the course

The aim of this course is to develop the skills and knowledge that learners need for a career in IT.

Designed to meet the needs of today's businesses, this hands-on, applied qualifications give learners a chance to gain a nationally recognised vocational qualification and progress to employment or further education in the IT sector.

A range of practical work and completion of end of course assignment

What can I earn in the digital skills sector?

IT project managers start on around £29,000 a year and an earn £49,000 with 3-5 years' experience

IT user support technicians start on around £22,000 a year and can earn £33,000 with 3-5 years' experience

Website developers start on around £18,000 and can earn £32,000 with 3-5 years' experience
