This course will introduce you to Sibelius, the leading professional music notation software. You will learn how to produce professional-quality musical notation: scores and instrumental parts.
Aims of the course
This course is an introduction to Sibelius, the leading professional music notation software.
You will learn how to write music notation speedily and efficiently using Sibelius.
You will learn the basic music theory skills needed to use Sibelius
You will learn how to prepare lead sheets and how to write full scores using Sibelius.
You will learn how to use Sibelius to enhance your compositional ability.
You will learn how to prepare instrumental parts of a professional standard.
Assessment is by assignment and practical project work. There will be whole-class lecturing, one-to-one guidance and small-group work. You will have a number of projects to complete.
Successful completion of this course can lead to further study on our range of part-time music production courses.
The skills learned on this course are essential to the modern composer, arranger or copyist.
Familiarity with the basics of music theory is helpful.
Familiarity with Mac OS is desirable but not essential.
The course takes place in our music Mac suite
