Overview

Learn the key skills needed to set-up and run a live PA system. Build a solid understanding of the basics of audio and signal paths, from microphone to loudspeaker. Understand inserts, sends & returns, FXs, monitor mixes, miking techniques, balanced & unbalanced systems etc. You will set-up and run the system for a gig by performance students.

Aims of the course

* Basic understanding of microphones, speakers and amplification

* Understand how a mixing desk works

* Understand signal flow

* Gain practical experience mixing live music

Assessment Method

By observation, question and answer and involving verbal feedback.

Entry Requirements

This is a beginner's class. An interest in music and audio equipment is essential. You will need your own ear protectors/earplugs.
