This one year sports pathway with high standards and great opportunities is designed to provide you with a good base knowledge covering a wide range of topics in sport. This course is perfect for you if you have a genuine interest in a number of different sports and are considering a career in sport but currently undecided in exactly what you want to do. This pathway acts as an excellent platform to progress onto a number of different specialisms as you will:
Complete a Level 2 Diploma in Sports
Complete an additional coaching qualifications in the Level 2 Principles of Coaching (where you will have the opportunity to learn what it takes to become an effective sports coach.)
Participate in Industry specific work placements to gain industry experience to prepare you for employment (with a possible opportunity of paid employment)
Completion of these elements will provide you with an excellent foundation to continue you're learning and development to pursue the sports career of your dreams.

Aims of the course
The aim of this course is to develop your skills, knowledge and understanding of sport which will allow you to progress and excel at Level 3.
You complete three core units (or four core units for the certificate or diploma) from a range of units, including:
* Health, safety and welfare in sport and active leisure
* Participating in sport
* Understanding the active leisure and learning sector.
The certificate also requires you to choose a minimum of three optional units (or five optional units for the diploma) from a wide range of units, including:
* Sport facility operations
* Injuries in sport
* Sport as a business
* Sport and society
* Working with participants with disabilities in sport and active leisure
* Event organisation in a sport and leisure environment.
During the duration of this pathway we will use a variety of assessment methods, which include:
Completion of written assignments (Word Reports, Posters, Leaflets, Presentations etc?)
Short answer question tests
Observation and assessment
Level 3 Diploma in Sports
4 GCSEs D-F / or 3-2 (in 2017 GCSEs)
Relevant Level 1 qualification with Merit or above
Relevant industry experience to Level 1 or above
