This programme will teach you what it takes to become a fitness instructor working in the health and fitness industry. As a student on the course, you will work on both the practical and theoretical knowledge that is required of you to work in a gym or to deliver group exercise classes.
This qualification is made up of 7 units: anatomy and physiology; principles of exercise, fitness and health; promote health, safety and welfare in active leisure and recreation; working with clients and helping them to adhere to exercise and physical activity; reflect and develop own practice in providing exercise and physical activity; plan and prepare gym-based exercise; and instruct and supervise gym-based exercise

Aims of the course
To teach learners the skills, knowledge and understanding required to become a fitness professional and seek employment in the health and fitness industry.
Two multiple choice exams, written questions, and observation and assessment.
Having successfully completed this course, you will be in a strong position to seek employment in the fitness industry, working as a fitness instructor. You could also progress onto the CYQ Certificate Level 3 Personal Training.
Completion of the Level 2 Certificate in Instructing Exercise and Fitness will allow you to register with REPS (Register for Exercise Professionals) and seek direct employment as a fitness instructor/trainer in a private or commercial gym.
4 GCSEs D-F / or 3-2 (in 2017 GCSEs)
Relevant Level 1 qualification with Merit or above
Relevant industry experience to Level 1 or above
