The College has signed a partnership with Crystal Palace National Sports Centre which will enable our students to learn in a professional environment using top-of-the-range facilities.
Our sports courses will have two bases – the first is our Lewisham Way Campus, and the second at the National Sports Centre, located in Crystal Palace Park, which has a long heritage of hosting sporting events and training sportsmen and women. The Centre features a state-of-the-art gym with over 120 pieces of equipment, an Olympic size swimming pool, athletics stadium and indoor track, football pitches, tennis and squash courts, beach volleyball courts, two group exercise studios, sports halls and a climbing wall.
Our popular sports programmes prepare students for a wide range of different careers in the sports and leisure industry including fitness instructing, activity leadership, personal training and playing sport. Some students enter employment straight from College while others choose to study their specialism in further depth via higher education.
David Harrild, Head of Service Industries, says: “Partnering with the National Sports Centre will allow local students from across Croydon, Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham, Greenwich and Bromley to experience a wider range of sports – and a richer learning experience – than we could previously offer at the College. We’re excited to be able to offer this opportunity to young people who want to turn their passion for sport into a career.”
The Crystal Palace National Sports Centre is around 30 minutes by train from Lewisham Way Campus (or 50 minutes by bus, with a range of routes available). The Centre is located near to Penge West station (which can be reached by direct train and overground services from New Cross Gate) with Crystal Palace and Penge East stations also close by.
