Professor Adebisi Adewole

Dr Adebisi Adewole – who taught business related subjects and ICT at the College from 1998 to 2002, and is an expert in African economics – will be returning to Southwark College to launch his latest book on Friday 1 March.

Dr Adewole’s book, ‘Logistics and Global Value Chains in Africa’, will be unveiled at a special event which will welcome business leaders and academics as well as staff and students from the College who are interested in this field.

He completed his PhD doctoral research at the University of the Arts London in Supply Chain Relationships in the 2003, after which he moved to London Metropolitan University as Senior Lecturer (Associate professor) where he taught for twelve years before he progressed to the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) in 2014. He is on record as the first African PhD scholar in Supply Chains Management.

He is currently the Deputy Director for Centre for African Research on Enterprise and Economic Development (CAREED) at his current University.

Professor Adewole has published widely in his field and contributed at many international conferences.

His new book provides a comprehensive explanation of the relevance of logistics and global value chain (GVC) to trade on the African continent, and aims to help define an approach that will bring about much-needed fair and competitive trade deals for Africa.

The book launch will take place from 5 to 8pm on 1 March at Southwark College, and is being organised by the UK Africa Professional Educators’ Seminar, an organisation which supports teacher development in Africa.

Tickets for the launch can be booked via Eventbrite.
