If you have your sights set on a career in plumbing, this course will help you progress towards your goal. Combining practical tasks and theory, the subjects you will cover include health and safety, common plumbing processes, cold water systems, electrical systems, environmental awareness, key plumbing principles, sanitation systems, and central heating systems.

Aims of the course

To give learners a basic general understanding of plumbing and enable them to progress to Level 2 Plumbing.

Understand and carry out safe working practices in Building Services Engineering Understand how to communicate with others within Building Services Engineering Understand how to apply environmental protection measures within BSE Understand fundamental scientific principles within building services engineering Understand and carry out copper pipe fabrication work for domestic plumbing systems Understand and carry out low carbon steel pipe fabrication work for domestic plumbing systems Understand and carry out plastic pipe fabrication work for domestic plumbing systems Understand the key features of domestic plumbing systems Understand and demonstrate techniques for installing

Assessment Method

Each unit has a number of small assessments; these assessments will include practical assessments, written question, multiple choice questions and component recognition.

This study programme can lead to a several different paths including progressing to the Level 2 Plumbing Qualification or taking up an apprenticeship in plumbing.
